From a track athlete with a love of rugby, to a rugby player with a love of track, I continue to grow both as an athlete and a person. Having lived and played in Australia, south-east Asia and South Africa, I'm looking forward to moving from high school into international college to further my education and personal development, while growing as the global sports person I've become.
A highly successful athlete with state records and Australian state medallist and record holder in sprints and hurdles, coupled with more than 10 years of touch, 7s, 10s and 15s rugby experience, has created a well-rounded, fast, balanced and skilled ball player, with the skills to lead as well as learn from each new experience.
With Scottish and Australian parents, and having been educated in Indonesia, Australia and now South Africa, I've been fortunate enough to train and compete with some amazing people in amazing places. From age 5 playing mixed rugby with the Jakarta Komodos, and playing junior tournaments in Singapore, Malaysia as well as being 'dragged' to the Hong Kong Sevens gave me the excitement and interest in global women's and girl's rugby.
Upon returning to Australia in 2016 and moving into high school, while my primary training revolved around athletics where I won several state titles and national medals in sprint and hurdle events, I remained engaged in rugby through school and club 'touch', 7s and 15s rugby, playing state representative level.
The next chapter is currently taking place in South Africa, where rugby has once again presented me with an opportunity to train and play with some great people. Although local age banding rules and a lack of pathways is an issue, I've managed to train and play some 7s and 10s with Harlequins Rugby Club and the University of Pretoria TUKS 7s program. I'm currently studying at the American International School of Johannesburg, and starting to think about college and university options, particularly in the US, UK or Australia.
In October 2022, I was fortunate enough to join the travelling San Clemente Rhino, Rugby Tens Championship visiting girl's academy team with girls from the USA, Canada, Lesotho, and South Africa. Two great tournaments, over two great weekends in Pretoria and Stellenbosch, surrounded by top coaches, great teammates and some senior legends of the game.
While two cup final victories with two tries in each, and an MVP award playing against the Blue Bulls at Loftus Park will be always be great memories, just being part of such a positive and significant event and surrounded by a team of strong and confident women and girls, driving our game forward into the future will last with me forever.
2022 was rounded off with a senior debut in the Dubai International 7s and a first international senior try! (video clips attached)
2023-24 has included playing in Zambia, Austria, Portugal, Uganda and the US, truly the world game!
